Dedalus in Motion

Writer/Director Bobcat Goldthwait’s film is as obscure as his name.  I won’t spoil the film by giving plot details, but I will say that the series of events in this “dark comedy” are so dark that they nearly offended me (a pretty damn cynical viewer).  Granted, Goldthwait’s intentions - to draw back the curtain on the mockery that is post-mortem fame (see Kurt Cobain) - were noble.  Just using the father/son relationship to do so was a bit too much to sit through.

Still, if your sense of humor is seven shades darker than jet black, Goldthwait’s direction is stylish and solid, and Williams commits himself to a truly loathsome character with a great moment of redemption.
