Dedalus in Motion

What's the point?  I couldn't decipher it.  Is it romantic that this man hatched a plan to murder his wife?

In one breath, it seemed to be painting a portrait of marriage as a miserable institution in which everyone is lost, cheating...compromising their "true" happiness for the sake of the institution.  In the next, it seemed to say that the compromise of marriage is a beautiful thing, and persevering through hardship is a beautiful thing that leads to fulfillment.

Brosnan's narration of the film was very present early on, but fades entirely in the second act.  Then re-appears in the final moments of the film.  He even closes the film with: "The most noble man I ever met; he never once talked to me of his loss...It's funny, isn't it?  What we do for love..."

It was neither good nor bad.  That is to say, I kept watching.  I wanted to know what would happen.  I sympathized with everyone in at least a moment or two.  The script wasn't bad, nor the directing, nor the acting.  But it was definitely missing a decipherable theme.  Perhaps that was the point?
