Dedalus in Motion

Richard Curtis has proven by now that he’s got a knack for dialogue, especially in the world of quirky romance (Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings & a Funeral).  With The Girl in the Cafe, he upped the ante - and parlayed his usual romantic comedy into a story of broader significance.

I won’t tell you too much about the film, as it may spoil it.  But know that this is a film not easily boxed by a conventional genre.  It is unique, heartfelt, and has great social significance.

The script dives right in, and moves at the pace of an independent film shot on a minimal budget.  So put your MTV viewer standards aside and listen...  David Yates (who, I’m not sure how, went from this to the final four Harry Potter films) directs - and is true to the story.  And Bill Nighy and Kelly Macdonald turn in solid performances.

Check this one out.  Not enough movies like this...
