I love Steve Carrell!  He has a very approachability about him that leaves me (and I assume many other audience members) feeling like we could plop down on a sofa next to him if we met him today and chat like old friends.  He has an ease and a comfort.  Plus, he's a damn fine comic actor...

Get Smart is not a unique concept (see Austin Powers), but it had just enough of a spin that it could have been much more clever than it is.  One thing I'll give it: Carell and Hathaway have great chemistry.

In the end, this film watches like a choppy comedy that's trying harder than it should be to elicit a laugh.
